Interview with CPT Markets’ CEO about Volatility in Post-pandemic Era

Filippo De Rosa, the CEO of CPT Markets, joins Fazzaco today to discuss the volatility in post-pandemic era and share his opinion on how to solve complaints from retail clients on slippage, low latency etc.

​Fazzaco: Hi, Filippo! Thank you for joining Fazzaco. Could you please briefly introduce yourself and CPT Markets?

Filippo: Thank you for having me, it is always great to connect with like-minded online trading enthusiasts. My interest in online trading started over 17 years ago and I was fortunate to contribute to the growth of several global financial institutions across London, Milan, the Middle East and most recently Asia. At CPT Markets we are continuously focusing our efforts on creating a reliable yet simple to use access to the international financial markets.

Filippo: In addition to being one of the main economic hubs in Southeast Asia, we have lately witnessed a lot of interest among Malaysian Investors for online trading. Fazzaco: What are the advantages for having a virtual expo in your opinion? Will virtual expo be the best choice for forex brokerage marketing in the context of the ongoing pandemic?

Filippo: Amid an ongoing pandemic, virtual expos present a massive opportunity for businesses looking to improve their brand exposure and reach out to new clients. In terms of advantages, I would consider accessibility as one of the main advantages given that such expos can be accessed from any device and from basically anywhere in the world. 

At CPT, we are already exploring and developing our virtual territory to gain a wider and more accurate understanding of our audience’s profiles, targets, and concerns. Which bring us to the next main advantage, Big Data, and the ability to track your target audience and easily engage when needed, which will eventually help us deliver more detailed and personalized insights tailored to our client’s needs. Fazzaco: What are the opportunities and challenges for CPT Markets in the pandemic era?

Filippo: This was a revolutionary time for our industry due to the high increase in online transactions in general and trading financial derivatives. Now that many, due to the lockdown, finally had the chance to invest time learning and practicing how to trade. Regarding challenges, I believe it was mainly the ability to deliver advanced technology, the right tools, and the needed support for our clients to experience the best trading experience.

Fazzaco: Heightened volatility leads to liquidity issues, especially assets like gold and oil. How do you deal with liquidity squeezes?

Filippo: We have access to top tier liquidity from leading financial institutions globally. This enables us to cope with volatile markets and deliver best execution and liquidity to our clients.

Fazzaco: How do you solve the complaints from retail clients on slippage, low latency etc., especially when the market is experiencing extreme fluctuations?

Filippo: As an international company, regulated across multiple jurisdictions we make sure to provide the best service to both retail and institutional traders. Clear and direct communication is essential in understanding any market situation and we are always close to our clients. Moreover, we make sure to follow the international best practices regarding the procedures around complaints.

Fazzaco: Do clients usually accept your explanations?

Filippo: We're proud to say that our clients are aware of how things work and have a deep understanding of our operations and the market in general. We believe in investing time to educate new traders and provide the right level of support which will lead to happy and satisfied clients.

Fazzaco: COVID is not going to be over any time soon. Do you believe that the global market activities and volatility would still remain unusually high?

Filippo: Volatility is a consequence of uncertainty, as vaccination programs progress and customer spending levels are back on track, the overall market is starting to show more stability which could lead to a less volatile stock and forex markets. Nevertheless, with more market participants and easier access to the markets, there will always be plenty of opportunity for traders and investors.
