Iran Orders Crypto Miners to Suspend Operations to Avoid Power Deficit in Winter

Fazzaco learned that Iranian authorities have again ordered crypto miners to halt operations to prevent winter blackouts. This follows this May authorities in Tehran temporarily banning mining when demand for power was rising and insufficient supply was caused by the hot and dry weather. Then in September, lisensed firms were allowed to resume activities.
Reportedly, predicting energy needs to grow with low temperatures in winter, the Iranian government is setting about limiting consumption. For instance, Tavanir, the Iran Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company, has recently instructed authorized cryptocurrency mining centers to unplug their power-hungry hardware.
Further, Iran’s Ministry of Energy has been trying to cut down the use of liquid fuels in power plants since November. Also, authorities have warned consumers to exert caution in terms of the volume of their gas and electricity usage.
Crypto mining is an energy-consuming activity. This September, Fazzaco has released an article Crypto Mining Might be A Reason to the Ongoing Global Power Shortage, explaining why many countries successively put restrictions on it.
