JPMorgan Chase & Co. has recently begun a fresh wave of layoffs in Asia, with a reduction of at least seven investment-banking positions, as per sources familiar with the situation. 

The New York-headquartered bank initiated these job cuts this week, primarily affecting employees at the vice president and associate levels in sectors such as consumer, energy, and health care, the people said.

Furthermore, private sector lender Yes Bank recently announced a restructuring initiative to reduce costs, resulting in the layoff of hundreds of employees across the bank. 

The trend of tech layoffs also remains prevalent in 2024. After substantial workforce reductions in 2022 and 2023, this year has witnessed 60,000 job cuts across 254 companies, as reported by a layoffs tracker. Noteworthy companies like Tesla, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have implemented significant layoffs in the initial months of 2024.

Despite this challenging environment, the current job market is not as dire as one may think.
