Jean-Baptiste Patois Appointed Head of Equity Derivatives Ex-Strategic Derivatives, APAC of Barclays

Barclays announced on Tuesday (November 21, 2023) the appointment of Jean-Baptiste Patois as its Head of Equity Derivatives ex-Strategic Derivatives, Asia Pacific. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in equity derivatives to the bank.

Jean-Baptiste joins Barclays from Nomura, where he served as Head of Equity Derivatives Trading, Asia ex-Japan. Prior to Nomura, he worked with Credit Suisse for almost six years, during which he held multiple senior roles running their equity derivatives business across APAC.

Earlier, he worked at Société Générale in New York, Paris and Tokyo.

In the new role, out of Hong Kong, Jean-Baptiste will lead Exotics and Flow Derivatives, and report regionally to Hossein Zaimi, Head of Markets, APAC, and functionally to Ashish Prabhudesai, Global Head of Structured Derivatives and non-US Flow.

This appointment comes after Barclays naming investment banking veteran Geoffrey Belsher​ as chairman and country chief executive officer for Canada.
