The collaboration outlines a phased rollout of new integration features focused on enhancing interoperability between Chase banking products and Coinbase accounts.

The agreement includes three primary functions. First, a direct link between Chase bank accounts and Coinbase wallets will be enabled via JPMorgan’s API framework. This will allow users to transfer funds from bank accounts to crypto wallets without routing through third-party platforms. Second, customers will be allowed to convert Chase Ultimate Rewards points into crypto assets by transferring them directly to their Coinbase accounts. This marks the first case of a major U.S. rewards program offering point conversion to digital currency. Third, beginning in Fall 2025, Coinbase accounts will support funding via Chase-issued credit cards.

The API-enabled bank-to-wallet integration and the reward points conversion are scheduled to go live in 2026. The companies have not disclosed whether the wallet infrastructure will support outbound flows from Coinbase back to Chase-linked accounts or cards.

Both companies stated that data security and compliance will be key components of the implementation, though further details on how consumer protection standards will be applied were not included. Industry observers note that such integrations could streamline onboarding for regulated crypto services, while also allowing banks and fintech platforms to retain users within their respective ecosystems.

The partnership comes amid increasing competition in the payment and digital asset infrastructure space, with major financial institutions seeking to retain relevance in onchain transaction networks. Coinbase, which also provides API services and infrastructure for decentralized applications, is positioning its consumer interface as an access point for future onchain financial activity. JPMorgan, meanwhile, has previously launched blockchain-based tools for interbank settlements and continues to explore applications of tokenized deposits and distributed ledger technologies.

The initiative is expected to influence future alignment between loyalty programs, credit products, and crypto-access frameworks across the financial services industry.
