JPX Launches API Distribution Service "J-Quants API" (Beta) for Retail Investors

JPXI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan Exchange Group (JPX), provides an environment to promote trading utilizing IT and data analysis for individuals interested in data science via the "J-Quants" project.
As part of this project, from April to the end of May, JPXI provided the J-Quants API (beta) service (hereinafter "the Service"), which distributes historical stock prices and corporate financial data through API, to limited users (Early Adopters) chosen by lottery. JPXI has now decided to start providing the Service to general users from Monday, July 4.

The current environment in Japan does not allow easy access for retail investors to obtain and use raw financial data. To tackle this, last year, JPX Group launched an environment through the J-Quants project which enabled retail investors to learn about investment analysis utilizing data, by providing financial data that professionals use such as historical stock prices and corporate financial data together with analytical methods for these data. JPX has decided to launch this service as a beta version.
The following data will be distributed though API. This will allow comparisons among listed companies and chronological stock price analysis from the user's preferred perspective.
Historical stock price data of listed companies on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (stock prices adjusted for stock splits, etc. (opening/high/low/closing prices) and trading volume, etc. from 2017)
Corporate financial data taken from earnings reports (summary information of quarterly earnings reports from 2017)
Issue information
Industrial sector information
Planned financial results announcements for the next day
JPXI states that it will improve the convenience of the Service, incorporating feedback from users during the beta service period, and aims for it to be a sustainable paid service.
