JPX Posts 17.6% Monthly Decline in Total Derivatives Trading Value for Jan. 2023

Japan Exchange Group, Inc. (JPX) today released its trading overview for January 2023, showing a significant decline in total derivatives trading value compared to the previous month.
Cash Equity Market
In January 2023, the daily average trading value for the Prime Market (domestic common stocks) was JPY 3.0134 trillion.
The daily average trading value for the ETF market was JPY 210.8 billion.
Derivatives Market
In January 2023, total derivatives trading volume was 24,087,206 contracts, down 17.6% compared to 29,246,365 contracts in the previous month.
In January 2023, total derivatives trading value reached JPY 194 trillion, down 36.4% compared to JPY 305 trillion in the previous month.
In January 2023, trading volume for the night session and the ratio of the night session were 10,097,209 contracts and 41.9%. While the trading volume for the night session and the ratio of the night session in December 2022 were 10,226,483 contracts and 35.0 %.
Total trading volume of the holiday trading on January 3 was 518,979 contracts.
