JPX Registers Multiple Records in April 2024 Trading Results

Japan Exchange Group, Inc. (JPX) updated its trading overview for April 2024, registering multiple records achieved during the period. There were 21 trading days in the month.

Cash Equity Market

• In April this year, the average daily trading value (ADTV) for the Prime Market (domestic common stocks) stood at JPY 5.0598 trillion, 13.6% lower than JPY 5.8549 trillion in the preceding month.

• ADTV for the ETF market reached JPY 355.9 billion for the period, increasing 7.0% compared to JPY 332.6 billion in March of the same year.

Derivatives Market

• Total derivatives trading volume for the month rose by 1.4% from 43,529,353 contracts to 44,117,258 contracts on a monthly basis, posting a new record high for April.

• Derivatives trading value totaled JPY 334 trillion for the period, decreasing 36.3% compared to JPY 524 trillion in the previous month, which was the highest monthly record, but also hitting a record high for all Aprils.

• During the month, the trading volume for the night session and the ratio of the nigh session were 19,015,668 contracts and 43.1%, indicating significant growth as compared to 15,647,548 contracts and 35.9% in the prior month.

• Total trading volume of the holiday trading on April 29 was 1,531,971 contracts, marking the highest figure recorded.
