JPX Sees 28.1% Monthly Decrease in Derivatives Trading Volume for July 2023

Japan Exchange Group, Inc. (JPX) published its trading overview for July 2023, showing a monthly decrease of 28.1% in derivatives trading volume. There were 20 trading days in July 2023.
Cash Equity Market
In July 2023, the daily average trading value for the Prime Market (domestic common stocks) was JPY 3.9023 trillion, 11.8% lower than JPY 4.4264 trillion in the prior month.
The daily average trading value for the ETF market was JPY 278.5 billion, down 18.3% compared to JPY 340.7 billion in June this year.
Derivatives Market
In July 2023, total derivatives trading volume was 32,246,395 contracts, recording the second trading volume as July and a decrease of 28.1% compared to 44,848,578 contracts in June 2023.
In July 2023, total derivatives trading value was JPY 263 trillion, recording the highest trading value as July and a decrease of 42.2% compared to JPY 455 trillion in the prior month.
During the period, trading volume for the night session and the ratio of the night session were 11,023,831 contracts and 34.2%, comparing to 15,441,686 contracts and 34.4% in June 2023.
