JPX Witnesses Monthly Dip of 37.1% in Derivatives Trading Value for February 2023

Japan Exchange Group, Inc. (JPX) today released its trading overview for February 2023, seeing a significant decline in total derivatives trading value for the month.
Cash Equity Market
In February 2023, the daily average trading value for the Prime Market (domestic common stocks) was JPY 3.1564 trillion, up 4.7% compare with JPY 3.0134 trillion in the prior month.
The daily average trading value for the ETF market was JPY 164.4 billion,down 22.0% compared to JPY 210.8 billion in January 2023.
Derivatives Market
In February 2023, total derivatives trading volume was 22,236,443 contracts, down 7.7% compared to January’s 24,087,206 contracts.
Total derivatives trading value for the month reached JPY 166 trillion, down 37.1% compared to JPY 194 trillion in the previous month.
Trading volume for the night session and the ratio of the night session for February were 9,201,596 contracts and 41.4%. While the metrics in the prior month were 10,097,209 contracts and 41.9%.
Total trading volume of the holiday trading on February 23 was 352,578 contracts. While in January 2023, the total trading volume of the holiday trading on January 3 was 518,979 contracts.
