Kraken Appoints Former Binance Executive Lorenzo Capone to Lead Southern Europe Expansion

US cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has appointed Lorenzo Capone, formerly of rival platform Binance, as its Head of Regional Growth for Southern Europe, signaling a renewed push for market share in the region. Capone, who spent five years as Binance's Head of Marketing and Business Development for Italy, will be based in Rome.

In a statement shared on LinkedIn, Capone described the move as a values-driven decision. He noted that becoming a Kraken user in early 2026 allowed him to experience the company's operations firsthand before accepting the executive role. Capone holds multiple degrees from institutions including Luiss Business School and Mississippi State University.

The appointment underscores the ongoing competition for talent within the cryptocurrency sector as established platforms seek experienced executives to drive regional growth strategies.
