Kraken Launches Regulated Crypto Derivatives Platform in the U.S.

Crypto exchange Kraken has unveiled Kraken Derivatives US, its new U.S.-based regulated platform for trading cryptocurrency futures, further expanding its footprint in the derivatives market.
The move follows Kraken's recent acquisition of retail trading platform NinjaTrader, and it represents a strategic step toward offering a unified trading experience across both digital and traditional asset classes. Through the new platform, clients can access crypto futures listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) directly via the Kraken Pro interface.
Shannon Kurtas, Head of Exchange at Kraken, described the launch as "a meaningful step in giving traders broad market access and increased capital efficiency within a regulated and high-performance environment." She added that the new service allows users to trade crypto futures alongside one of the world's most liquid spot markets.
Kraken has signaled its intention to further broaden its offering later this year to include futures on commodities, fixed income, foreign exchange, and equities. The U.S. launch comes on the heels of similar moves in Europe, where the company has already rolled out regulated derivatives products through its CySEC-licensed subsidiary, Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited.
Futures services in the U.S. will be provided by Ninjatrader Clearing LLC, doing business as Kraken Derivatives US, a registered Futures Commission Merchant and member of the National Futures Association. While the NFA oversees futures activities, it does not regulate the underlying spot cryptocurrency markets, which are managed by Kraken's non-CFTC registered entity, Payward Interactive Inc.
The launch of Kraken Derivatives US is positioned as part of the company's broader vision to evolve into a multi-asset trading platform. This follows its earlier U.S. rollout of commission-free equities trading and a recently announced tokenized equities initiative.
