Kraken to Introduce Enhanced Trading Infrastructure with Beeks

Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has announced its intention to implement Beeks Exchange Cloud® within its European data centre. This development will see the launch of a new colocation service aimed at providing traders with fair, accessible, and high-speed execution capabilities.

Drawing from established practices in traditional financial markets, colocation involves traders housing their systems within an exchange's data centre to achieve faster execution speeds. Kraken's upcoming service, slated for launch in late 2025, seeks to broaden access to this model, traditionally favored by institutional investors, to a wider spectrum of market participants. The exchange emphasizes that this initiative will maintain the principles of fairness and transparency central to cryptocurrency markets.

Kraken has been focused on refining its infrastructure for over a decade, striving to offer a secure and liquid trading environment. This latest step utilizes Beeks' private, secure, and scalable infrastructure, already utilized by major equity exchanges, to offer traders ultra-low latency execution without the necessity of managing their own hardware. While this facilitated access will be available, Kraken will also provide the option for users with specific technical requirements to install their own hardware within the data centre. Both pathways will grant access to the same low-latency environment, with expected sub-millisecond execution speeds for traders located in London.

This move is considered a significant advancement for the cryptocurrency market. Previously, achieving the lowest possible latency often required substantial investment in infrastructure, thereby limiting access primarily to larger trading firms.
