KuCoin EU Launches MiCAR-Regulated Crypto Platform Across EEA

KuCoin EU has launched a crypto trading platform operating under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR), targeting users in 29 European Economic Area (EEA) markets.
The Austria-based entity is licensed as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider and is supervised by Austria’s Financial Market Authority. The structure allows KuCoin EU to provide services across much of the EEA under a single regulatory framework.
The rollout marks one of the early large-scale launches of a MiCAR-aligned platform by a global crypto exchange group, as the EU moves to implement a harmonized regime for digital asset services.
KuCoin EU formally introduced the platform on January 28, 2026, at an event in Vienna. Managing Directors Christian Niedermueller, Sabina Liu, and Audrey Lim took part in the launch.
Company representatives said the platform has been developed to align its technology and operations with European regulatory standards. Europe was described as a key market in the firm’s long-term plans.
At launch, KuCoin EU offers spot crypto trading, euro-denominated deposits and withdrawals, and localized customer support for European clients.
The company indicated that additional products and services are expected to be introduced in phases, but did not provide detailed timelines. The phased rollout suggests the firm plans to expand its offering as it adapts to demand and regulatory expectations under MiCAR.
