Latest CFTC Report Shows Retail Forex Funds in US Rise 3.72% in July 2025

The latest monthly report released by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) indicates a bounce back in retail forex deposits for July 2025 compared to June. The total volume across six institutions increased by 3.72% month-over-month, amounting to $497,313,530.
This report covers registered retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs) and broker-dealers operating in the US, including CHARLES SCHWAB Futures & Forex LLC, Gain Capital Group LLC, Interactive Brokers LLC, OANDA Corporation, tastyfx, and Trading.com Markets.
In July 2025, the total forex funds held by these six registered brokers amounted to US$497,313,530, marking an increase of US$17,837,596 compared to the US$479,475,934 reported in June 2025. Year-over-year, the total volume was down 8.84% compared to US$545,512,724 in July 2024.

Here's how the six brokers performed month-over-month:
CHARLES SCHWAB (-1.49%, reducing US$923,024), Gain Capital (+6.25%, increasing US$12,735,930), Interactive Brokers (-12.38%, reducing US$4,299,073), OANDA (+4.43%, increasing US$6,102,410), tastyfx (+10.94%, increasing US$4,237,998) and Trading.com (-0.71%, reducing US$16,645).
Year-on-Year Changes of the Six Brokers

Compared with the data from the same month last year, three of the brokers saw yearly increases: Gain Capital (+5.1%, increasing US$10,494,385), Interactive Brokers (+1.73%, increasing US$516,155), Trading.com (+12.64%, increasing US$261,054).
The following brokers experienced yearly declines: CHARLES SCHWAB (-1.82%, reducing US$1,134,834), OANDA (-21.9%, reducing US$40,365,840), tastyfx (-29.49%, reducing US$17,970,114).
About CFTC's Monthly Report
As per CFTC requirements, Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs) and Retail Foreign Exchange Dealers (RFEDs) must submit monthly financial reports to the CFTC's Market Participants Division (MPD) within 17 business days after the end of the month. This month's report reflects the financial information received as of August 31, 2025, detailing the financial situation of the relevant companies as of July 31, 2025.
