Latest CFTC Report Shows Retail Forex Funds in US See A 6.53% Decline in April 2025

The latest monthly report released by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) indicates a decline in retail forex deposits for April 2025 compared to March. The total volume across six institutions decreased by 6.53% month-over-month, amounting to $495,482,818.
This report covers registered retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs) and broker-dealers operating in the US, including CHARLES SCHWAB Futures & Forex LLC, Gain Capital Group LLC, Interactive Brokers LLC, OANDA Corporation, tastyfx, and Trading.com Markets.
In April 2025, the total forex funds held by these six registered brokers amounted to US$495,482,818, marking a decrease of US$34,625,474 compared to the US$530,108,292 reported in March 2025. Year-over-year, the total volume was down 9.54% compared to US$547,759,474 in April 2024.

Registered Brokers' Performance
Here's how the six brokers performed month-over-month: CHARLES SCHWAB (-0.75%, decreasing US$472,703), Gain Capital (-6.84%, decreasing US$15,497,711), Interactive Brokers (3.02%, increasing US$969,288), OANDA (-9.48%, decreasing US$15,305,443), tastyfx (-9.87%, decreasing US$4,363,941) and Trading.com (1.17%, increasing US$45,036).
Year-on-Year Changes of the Six Brokers
Compared with the data from the same month last year, three of the brokers saw yearly increases: CHARLES SCHWAB (1.68%, increasing US$1,038,145), Gain Capital (3.29%, increasing US$6,724,137) and Trading.com (29.64%, increasing US$590,911).
The following brokers experienced yearly declines: Interactive Brokers (-7.75%, reducing US$2,778,381), OANDA (-19.96%, reducing US$36,219,964) and tastyfx, which was IG US a year ago, (-35.19%, reducing US$21,631,504).

About CFTC's Monthly Report
As per CFTC requirements, Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs) and Retail Foreign Exchange Dealers (RFEDs) must submit monthly financial reports to the CFTC's Market Participants Division (MPD) within 17 business days after the end of the month. This month's report reflects the financial information received as of May 31, 2025, detailing the financial situation of the relevant companies as of April 30, 2025.
