LMAX Group Expands U.S. Leadership with Strategic Hire

LMAX Group, the UK-headquartered exchange operator for FX and digital assets, has appointed Ilya Khazen to lead cross-asset sales across the Americas, signaling a renewed push into the region's institutional markets. Khazen, who joins from Copper Technologies, will operate out of New York in a newly created role and report directly to LMAX Digital Managing Director Chris Knight.

The appointment comes as the company ramps up its offering to institutional clients seeking integrated solutions in both traditional finance and crypto. CEO David Mercer emphasized the importance of timing, noting, "The Americas are set to become the world's most significant, fused and integrated digitally enabled marketplace."

Khazen brings experience from major financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs and Société Générale, and was previously Co-Head of Sales at Copper Technologies. He expressed confidence in LMAX's direction, saying, "I'm looking forward to leveraging my network and knowledge to help deliver on the strategic vision of LMAX Group's entire business."

The hire reflects LMAX Group's ambitions to capitalize on evolving regulatory clarity in the U.S. while bridging the gap between legacy finance and emerging digital markets.
