LoopFX Expands Access to Anonymous Mid-Matching in Institutional FX Trading

LoopFX has officially launched as an institutional FX liquidity network, completing its first live trades through integration with State Street’s FX Connect platform. The rollout brings mid-rate matching functionality directly into existing trading workflows used by asset managers and banks.

The service operates via a dark pool structure and is designed for large FX trades, addressing common challenges related to trade size, information leakage, and counterparty identification. LoopFX allows anonymous, real-time matching at the midpoint of the market, with execution taking place without pre-trade exposure.

The company has finalized agreements with 15 financial institutions. Among its early institutional users are Schroders, Royal London Asset Management, State Street Investment Management, and RBC Capital Markets. These firms now have access to embedded matching features within FX Connect.

LoopFX’s infrastructure is designed to integrate into existing execution environments rather than operate as a standalone platform. This approach supports a consolidated workflow for traders who manage multiple asset classes or require internal compliance routing for large orders.

The network is backed by £2.6 million in funding from Augmentum Fintech Plc and overseen by a board comprising individuals with operational and governance experience across asset management, trading technology, and public policy. Board members include John Sievwright, Martin Gilbert, Tim Levene, Ivan Ritossa, Mike Soutar, and Tim Ewington.

LoopFX is led by Blair Hawthorne, Tim Johnson, and John Vause, whose collective backgrounds include roles at State Street, American Express, 360T, CME, and Aberdeen. The firm is targeting continued onboarding of institutional clients through 2025, with a focus on building FX matching infrastructure that operates within existing connectivity frameworks used by asset managers and liquidity providers.
