LUKSO Appoints Former Coinbase Germany CEO Jan-Oliver Sell as COO

LUKSO, a Layer 1 blockchain platform designed for social and creative sectors, has appointed Jan-Oliver Sell, the former CEO of Coinbase Germany, as its new Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Sell joins LUKSO after spending four years at Coinbase.
Mr. Sell's appointment comes as LUKSO is reportedly transitioning from a research focus to a scaling phase. Developed by Universal Everything, LUKSO aims to introduce what it describes as a more human-centered blockchain experience, with a focus on tokens, DeFi, digital identity, ownership, and interoperability for creators and communities.
During his four years at Coinbase Germany, Mr. Sell played a key role in the exchange's European growth. Notably, he was involved in securing BaFin's first crypto custody license for the company, a move that was termed as a milestone for regulatory compliance in the region. Before his tenure at Coinbase, Mr. Sell gained over 15 years of experience in operations and finance, working to bridge traditional systems with blockchain innovation. LUKSO's technical foundation stems from co-founder Fabian Vogelsteller, who is noted for his significant role in Ethereum's development, particularly the ERC-20 token standard.
Fabian Vogelsteller, LUKSO Co-Founder and Ethereum standards pioneer, commented on Mr. Sell's appointment: "LUKSO's vision of 'The New Web3' is about making blockchain intuitive and relevant for everyone." He added, "Jan's operational expertise and deep understanding of the blockchain space will be critical as LUKSO continues to innovate and expand its ecosystem, empowering creators and users in a seamless, decentralized environment." The LUKSO network reportedly operates on its own set of protocols, known as LUKSO Standards Proposals, which aim to modernize smart contract frameworks to enhance broader accessibility.
