Markus Ronner to Take the Role from Lukas Gähwiler as UBS Switzerland Chairman

Fazzaco learned that the Board of Directors of UBS Switzerland AG will elect Markus Ronner to  succeed Lukas Gähwiler who has been nominated as Vice Chairman of UBS Group, as Chairman, at the Annual General Meeting on 5 April 2022.

Markus Ronner joined the group in 1981, having held a multitude of leadership roles. He was added to the Group Executive Board in 2018 as Group Chief Compliance and Governance Officer, with which he will remain, reportedly.

“I would like to thank Lukas for his commitment as Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBS Switzerland AG. As his designated successor, Markus is well suited to take over as Chairman thanks to his broad management experience and excellent knowledge of our bank, specifically his deep involvement in the setup of UBS Switzerland AG,” Group CEO Ralph Hamers stated.

At the beginning of this month, Fazzaco reported that Sarah Youngwood​, currently Chief Financial Officer of JPMorgan Chase’s Consumer & Community Banking line of business since 2016, would join UBS’ Group Executive Board at the beginning of March, 2022, and in May succeed current CFO Kirt Gardner.
