Mazars appoints senior Actuary Dorian Hicks as Partner

Former PwC Director Dorian Hicks has been made a Partner in Mazars’ London office. Hicks will now lead the firm’s general insurance actuarial team.

Professional services firm Mazars’ actuarial teams are made up of technical experts who specialise in financial engineering, insurance actuarial work, compensation and employee benefits, and statistics and modelling. It supports clients in assessing and managing financial risks, helping to enhance an organisation’s performance and even increase profitability.

Hicks’ leadership is expected to be pivotal in ensuring RSM is able to continue growing its team, for which it is actively recruiting at all levels. His experience and knowledge of the industry are also hoped to be a huge asset to RSM’s insurance clients, who are experiencing an era of rapid change amid the coronavirus pandemic and recession. The UK's income protection insurance market, for example, is forecast to shrink by more than a quarter this year, with the crisis causing the largest drop in employment for over a decade.

Arriving with more than 20 years of actuarial experience, across both general insurance and in the London market, Hicks specialises in reserving, mergers and acquisitions, finance and actuarial transformation, S166, risk and capital management, and actuarial finance insights. He commenced his career with PwC in 1999, becoming an Actuarial Analyst with the Big Four firm. In 2003, he was promoted to Director, a role he held for the following 17 years.

Earlier in the summer, Mazars appointed Steven Abbott and Tarifa Simpson as partners in its Manchester office. The duo each arrived from KPMG’s office there.
