Meri Williams Appointed as Pleo's New Chief Technology Officer

The previous CTO of Monzo, Meri Williams, was appointed by Pleo, a European spending solution fintech, as the new CTO. The appointment signifies Pleo's ongoing commitment to assisting small to medium-sized enterprises get rid of the hassles of antiquated financial procedures and gain real-time supervision on corporate expenditure, which is particularly important at a time of economic uncertainty for many organizations.
Abigail Slater, who arrived from American Express in October will become Pleo's new head of operations in the UK&I in October, came before Williams' hiring.
Williams joins Pleo's senior leadership team after previously working at Healx, a firm that uses AI to uncover new treatments for rare diseases. Williams brings her specialized expertise of the fintech industry from her position as CTO at mobile-first challenger bank Monzo, where she has experience working with a variety of team sizes and organizations. As Monzo's customer base increased to over four million, she led significant investments in platform resilience and business continuity while also assisting in the 300% growth of Monzo's technology team.
