MetaQuotes Adds New Rules for Products Offered via the Market

MetaQuotes, the developer of MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, plans to introduce more requirements for products offered via the Market, effective July 1, 2021.

The company said that the reason to the addition requirements is because many sellers do not think about how their products appear to users and how customers feel about using their apps. So the additional requirements come in to make the Market more convenient.

Intrusive functions in products, including pop-ups and numerous links on charts or panels, are prohibited. To advertise their services, a seller may specify a link to their website in the product description and add #property link to program code. The link will be displayed in a standard dialog during program start. No advertisements allowed on charts, in dialog boxes or on graphic panels.

No operational restrictions that limit application usage (such as time, account, trading symbol and other restrictions) are allowed in products. No time limitations are allowed for any paid or free product, which shall be fully functional on any trading account.

Users now may download an Expert Advisor or indicator trial version to test the product in the Strategy Tester. Such versions cannot be run on live charts. Sellers can additionally provide monitoring results via the Signals service to demonstrate the performance of Expert Advisors.

Some so-called "demo versions" provided by certain sellers have functional restrictions in terms of trading, display or others, making it difficult for users to find truly useful free programs.

As a result, the following products will be considered as spam:

-products having words Demo, Free, Trial, Light or similar in their name;

-products displaying a link to another fully functional product of the author in the description or on a chart during operation; and

-products with functional restrictions.

To demonstrate all features of paid products (including trading panels and analytical applications), sellers can add videos in the description and provide a one-month product rental option for a small fee.

Market sellers must remove functionality restrictions, fix product names and delete links to other products by August 1, 2021.

All Market sellers are urged to revise the products accordingly by July 1, 2021.
