Michael R. Splinter Re-elected as Chairman of Nasdaq Board of Directors

Nasdaq, the US stock exchange operator, published the results of its 2021 Annual Meeting of Shareholders and all the nominated directors elected. According to the news released on the company’s official website, the Nasdaq Board of Directors re-elected Michael R. Splinter as Chairman of the Board.
Mr. Splinter was first elected as Chairman of Nasdaq’s Board in 2016. He is a business and technology consultant and the co-founder of WISC Partners, a regional technology venture fund. Mr. Splinter is also a member of Meyer Burger Technology’s compensation committee and TSMC’s audit and compensation committees.
As an engineer and technologist, Mr. Splinter is a 40-year veteran of the semiconductor industry. He served as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Applied Materials, a leading supplier of semiconductor equipment from 2009 until he retired in June 2015. At Applied Materials, he was also President and CEO. Prior to joining Applied Materials, Mr. Splinter was a long-time executive at Intel Corporation. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineers in 2017.
The elected board members include Melissa M. Arnoldi, CEO, Vrio Corp., a subsidiary of AT&T Inc.; Charlene T. Begley, Retired SVP & CIO, General Electric Company; Steven D. Black, Co-CEO, Bregal Investments; Adena T. Friedman, President and CEO, Nasdaq; Essa Kazim, Governor, Dubai International Financial Centre and Chairman, Borse Dubai and Dubai Financial Market; Thomas A. Kloet, Retired CEO & Executive Director, TMX Group Limited; John D. Rainey, CFO and EVP of Global Customer Operations, PayPal Holdings, Inc.; Michael R. Splinter, Retired Chairman and CEO, Applied Materials, Inc.; Jacob Wallenberg, Non-Executive Chairman, Investor AB; Alfred W. Zollar, Executive Advisor, Siris Capital Group, LLC. All directors will serve one-year term.
