Microsoft Closes Aquisition of Over 21 Million Voting Shares in LSEG

London Stock Exchange Group plc (LSEG), a leading provider of financial markets infrastructure and a global supplier of data and analytics, news and index products, announced that Microsoft has acquired 21,164,022 voting ordinary shares in LSEG from York Holdings II Limited and York Holdings III Limited.
Based on LSEG's total voting rights as of the close of business on January 27, 2023, Microsoft holds a voting interest in the exchange of approximately 4.2% as a result of the acquisition.
The two companies have been continuing to deepen their cooperation. On December 12, 2022, LSEG announced a 10-year strategic partnership with Microsoft, using Microsoft Cloud to architect LSEG's data infrastructure and jointly develop new products and services for data and analysis.
Last week, LSEG further announced that Scott Guthrie, Microsoft's Executive Vice President, Cloud and AI Group, has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Board of LSEG with effect from 1 February 2023.
Don Robert, chairman of LSEG, commented: "I am delighted to welcome Scott to the Board. Scott's long-standing career at Microsoft, including running the Microsoft Cloud and AI Group business, and deep technology expertise will provide a distinct perspective to the Group as we continue to deliver on our ambition to become the leading global financial markets infrastructure and data business."
