MOEX Sees Decline in Fees and Commission Income Across Multiple Markets for 2022

Moscow Exchange (MOEX), Russia's largest exchange group, has posted its results for the full year 2022, seeing drops in annual fees and commissions income across markets in equities, bonds, money and derivatives for the year.
Total fee and commission income of MOEX for the year 2022 came in at RUB 37.49 billion, a decrease of 9.8% compared to RUB 41.56 billion in FY2021. The total market capitalization of the Equities Market at the end of 2022 was RUB 38.4 trillion.
Specifically, in the Equity Market, the fee and commission income amounted to RUB 3.27 billion, down 37.2% compared to RUB 5.20 billion in 2021. The trading volumes in the market was RUB 17.60 trillion, down 41.3% compared to RUB 30.00 trillion.
The fee and commission income from Bond Market was RUB 2.00 billion, dropping 17.6% compared to RUB 2.43 billion in 2021. The trading volumes in the market was 12.87 trillion, dropping 30.9% compared to RUB 18.61 trillion in the prior year.
FX Market's Fee and Commission income reached RUB 5.67 billion, jumping 35.1% from RUB 4.19 billion in 2021. While its trading volume was RUB 267.84 trillion, falling 16.8% from RUB 322.03 trillion in 2021.
In Money Market, the fee and commission income came in at RUB 9.50 billion, a decrease of 18.8% compared to RUB 11.70 brillion in 2021. The trading volumes in the market was RUB 672.73 trillion, an increase of 41.2% compared to RUB 476.35 trillion in the prior year.
In terms of Derivatives Market, the fee and commission income decreased 28.0% from RUB 5.20 billion in 2021 to RUB 3.74 billion in 2022. The trading volumes decreased 50.9% from RUB 158.53 trillion to RUB 77.88 trillion on a YoY basis.
In IT Services, Listing and Marketplace (ITSLM), sales of software and tech services improved by 7.7% from RUB 1.13 billion to RUB 1.22 billion. Listing and other services amounted to RUB 578.0 million, decreasing 24.3% compared to RUB 763.8 million. Fee income of financial marketplaces services was RUB 747.4 million, increasing 50.4% compared to RUB 497.0 million in the prior year.
