Monaxa Expands Operations with South African License and European Plans

Monaxa, a relatively new player in the CFD brokerage world, has secured a South African license and is now looking toward expanding its European presence. The broker, which has been operating with licenses in Mauritius and Anguilla, announced its success in obtaining a South African license, which is becoming increasingly important for retail CFD brokers.
Monaxa's CEO, Chris Trikomitis, shared the news via LinkedIn, stating that the company will now focus on progressing with its European entity. This comes as the broker sets its sights on obtaining MiFID II authorization, but the exact jurisdiction within Europe is still undecided. Cyprus, a common home for many CFD brokers, may be an option, but Monaxa has not yet confirmed its next steps in Europe.
The move into South Africa reflects a growing trend, with companies like Tickmill, Exness, and Scope Markets already operating in the region. South Africa has emerged as a key market for brokers seeking regulatory stability and access to a growing retail investor base. At the same time, Monaxa is broadening its offering, recently adding crypto trading and a PAMM system to attract a wider range of clients.
Monaxa is also diving into the prop trading space, though those services have not launched yet. While Europe remains a tough regulatory market, Monaxa's expansion into South Africa highlights the changing dynamics in the brokerage industry, especially as many European firms shift away from retail trading. This transition may signal a shift toward more diverse, global operations, with brokers like Monaxa positioning themselves to capitalize on new opportunities.
