Monex Group Sees Slump in Profit for Nine Months Ending Dec. 31, 2022

Monex Group, a Japanese online trading services provider, has released its financial results for the 3Q of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023 (April 1, 2022 - December 31, 2022), showing an overall drop.

The group's total revenue for the period declined to 60.82 billion yen from 73.39 billion in the prior period, with operating revenue of 58.67 billion yen, down 15.8%.

Profit for the nine months ending Dec. 31, 2022 came in at 1.85 billion yen, decreasing 85.2% from 12.52 billion yen in the last same period. And profit before income taxes slumped 87.2% on a yearly basis to 2.46 billion yen. Profit attributable to owners of the group was 1.93 billion yen, down 84.5%.

Besides, basic earnings per share declined from the prior period's 48.19 yen to 7.27 yen. The group ended the period with total assets of 1.44 trillion yen, down 10% year-over-year.

Earlier this month, Fazzaco reported that from December 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022, Monex Group bought 4,026,500 shares from the market on the Tokyo Stock Exchange based on a discretionary trading agreement with the aggregate amount of 1.69 billion yen.
