Moomoo has introduced a new feature enabling retail investors to connect personal AI agents directly to its trading platform. The capability, named Moomoo API Skills, translates natural language inputs into structured trading strategies, eliminating the need for coding and allowing continuous market monitoring and trade preparation. This launch signals a shift toward what the firm calls agent-driven investing.

The move marks a change in how platforms approach retail algorithmic trading, traditionally limited to users with technical expertise. By converting plain language into executable strategies, Moomoo aims to lower the barrier to entry. The system allows AI agents to act as continuous assistants, tracking conditions across markets including the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan.

The platform includes backtesting functionality to validate strategies against historical data before live deployment, though this does not eliminate all risks associated with automated trading. Neil McDonald, CEO of moomoo US, stated, "We are seeing a fundamental shift where investors are moving from simply accessing information to seeking structured, intelligent ways to act on it."

The API Skills feature is designed for intent-based trading and 24/7 monitoring, which is critical for multi-region markets. Michael Arbus, CEO of moomoo Canada, commented, "With Moomoo API Skills, we are reducing the technical barriers... enabling clients' personal AI agents to connect directly with our platform while ensuring investors retain full control of every decision."

Security and risk management are central to the offering. Moomoo states the system keeps sensitive account data locally, not on external AI servers, to mitigate third-party risk. The platform defaults to simulated trading to encourage testing with virtual funds first. The company cautions that automated strategies do not guarantee profits and losses can occur more rapidly, especially for retail users unfamiliar with algorithmic risks.

The launch illustrates the broader trend of retail platforms moving toward automated, intent-based models. The opportunity lies in simplified strategy execution, but the primary risk is that easier access can expose users to faster and more complex losses if controls are inadequate.
