Moscow Exchange Saw MoM Decline in September’s FX Trading Volume

Moscow Exchange, the largest exchange group in Russia, has released key trading metrics for September 2022, reporting a monthly decline in foreign exchange (forex) trading volumes.

According to the report, the total trading volumes across Moscow Exchange's markets reached RUB 74.3 trillion, compared with RUB 81.2 trillion in the last month.
For the Equity & Bond Market, the trading volume totaled RUB 2506.4 billion, compared with RUB 1872.1 billion in August 2022. Trading volume in shares, DRs and investment fund units rose by 65.3% to RUB 1466.6 billion. Turnover in corporate, regional and sovereign bonds grew by 5.6% to RUB 1039.8 billion.
Moreover, Derivatives Market volumes reached RUB 4.7 trillion and Money Market turnover was RUB 46.9 trillion. Turnover in precious metals (spot and swaps) was RUB 13.1 billion.
In terms of the FX Market, the exchange reported a turnover of RUB 19.5 trillion, a decline from RUB 20.9 trillion in August 2022, with spot trading volumes amounting to RUB 8 trillion and swap trades and forwards totaling RUB 11.5 trillion.
