Nasdaq Reports a Dip in US Fixed Income Trading Volume in May

Fazzaco learned that Nasdaq has released its monthly volumes for the month of May, revealing a slight month on month dip for equity derivatives markets.
According to the report published on their website, the trading volume of US equity options in May fell to 247 million contracts compared to the previous month's 249 million contracts. However, the trading volume of European options and futures increased to 5.3 million contracts compared to last month's 5 million contracts.
When it comes to the cash equities trading volume, May witnessed a jump of both the US matched equities and the European equity. The US matched equities volume increased to 36,467 million compared to April's 35,248 million. The European equity volume for May rised to 100.8 million compared to the the figure posted in April at 96.5.
Additionally, the US fixed income volume declined to $566 billion compared to the number posted in April at 630. However, the European fixed income volume soared to 2.5 million contracts compared to the 1.5 million contracts witnessed in April.
