NEAR Foundation Appoints Marieke Flament as New CEO

Fazzaco learned that Switzerland-based NEAR Foundation has announced the appointment of Marieke Flament as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective from 1 January 2022.

As seen on her Linkedin profile, Mrs Flament joins NEAR from Mettle, a new and separate legal entity from NatWest, where she served as CEO from October 2019. Before this role, Circle utilised her services as Managing Director of Europe and then appointed her as the company's first global CMO afer 3 years. Over the course of her career, Mrs Flament has also worked for Louis Vuitton, Boston Consulting Group and Hotels.com.

According to Illia Polosukhin, co-founder of NEAR, Mrs Flament will help the group accelerate our next phase of adoption and help us realise our vision. "Her skills and experience are the perfect blend to help NEAR reach its next phase," Polosukhin adds.

Mrs Flament posted the following on social media, 

"NEAR enables the creation of OpenWeb, leveraging blockchain technology. Our vision is to create a world where users own their data, their money, their creations, their journeys...I look forward to working with Illia Polosukhin and the NEAR Foundation team to help achieve NEAR's vision. And most importantly I look forward to serving and supporting the NEAR ecosystem, in a quest to bring OpenWeb / Web3 mainstream. "

Mrs Flament's appointment is expected to drive the growth of NEAR by utilising her executive-level expertise. It comes at a time when the crypto and blockchain space are right here to remain and their sizes are anticipated to develop within the coming years.
