New position! IG Group appoints first ESG manager to promote diversification of financial services

Today, the UK-based IG Group announced that it has appointed Ben Hemington as ESG manager.

After taking this new position, Hemington will be responsible for leading and further developing the IG Group ’s ESG agenda. He will manage the company's environmental impact and promote the company's ESG projects and measures.

This appointment demonstrates that IG has fulfilled its ESG commitments, including the company ’s commitment to encourage greater diversification in the financial services industry, while being consistent with the UN ’s sustainable development goals and IG ’s own established goals and values.

Hemington will work in the London office, reporting to Chief Legal and Governance Officer Joanna Nayler. He moved from Teach First to IG Group in 2017 and is responsible for managing the agency ’s partnerships with many of the most important private sectors.

At first, Hemington was an attorney at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, and later became a teacher for the "First Teaching and Training Program".

IG Group said that these work experiences make Hemington an ideal candidate to promote flagship programs such as IG Brighter Future Fund . The plan was launched in April 2020 and aims to improve education opportunities for people globally severely affected by Covid-19. The fund totals £ 5 million.
