Nium Continues Global Expansion to Offer Real-time Payments in Malaysia

Nium, a global fintech platform, today announced the availability of real-time payment services to Malaysia. 

According to the company's announcement, Malaysia is a market with great potential. The real-time transactions in the country is predicted to grow to $3.6 billion in 2026, as shown in GlabalData's analysis. 

Additionally, Nium has been issued with an "International Remittance Hub" (IRH) license by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). The license provides Nium with in-market capabilities, like Pay Out, in more than 190 countries with higher outbound limits, as well as the right to onboard licensed corporations of all types, including financial institutions, which facilitates the operation of the platform in Malaysia.

Nium is a global platform for modern money flows. It provides banks, payment providers, and businesses with access to global payment and card issuance solutions. Nium's current business has been available in 34 countries/areas including Euro area, the UK, Australia and Singapore.

Last July, Nium raised more than $200 million in a Series D round led by Riverwood Capital to expand its payments network infrastructure, drive innovative product development. Last month, it considered to make a $400 million acquisition to expand across Europe. In October, Nium launched the first CaaS (Crypto-as-a-Service) solution in the fintech industry. Furthermore, this April, the company acquired Singapore-based alternative payments network platform Socash. Recently, Nium and OwlTing, a global blockchain service company, has reached a partnership to launch OwlPay to provide new real-time cross-border payment services for e-commerce and travel platforms in Southeast Asia.
