Nomura Reports 2% YoY Decline in Net Revenue for FY23 Amid Volatility

Nomura Holdings, Inc., a Japanese financial holding company, has today released its financial results for the forth quarter and full year ended March 2023. The company has produced 1,335.6 billion yen net revenue for the full fiscal year, dropping 2% on a yearly basis.
Income before income taxes for FY23 came in at 149.5 billion yen, with net income attributable to shareholders at 92.8 billion yen. Diluted net income attributable to shareholders per share was 29.74 yen.
For the forth quarter, net revenue declined 17% on a quarterly basis to 324.9 billion yen. Income before income taxes stood at 22.7 billion yen, with net income attributable to shareholders at 7.4 billion yen. Diluted net income attributable to shareholders per share was 2.34 yen.
Specifically, Retail segment generated 75.3 billion yen for the forth quarter, down 7% over the prior quarter but up 7% compared to the last same period. Income before income taxes from the segment reached 9.8 billion yen, soaring 89% on a yearly basis but dipping 26% quarter-on-quarter.
The quarterly net revenue from Investment Management segment was 37.8 billion yen, 3.8 times higher than the same quarter last year. However, the figure fell 34% over the previous quarter. Wholesale segment has produced 178.8 billion yen net revenue during the period, down 5% on a quarterly basis and 8% on a yearly basis.
In February, Fazzaco reported that Nomura’s net revenue for the third quarter of FY23 was 393.7 billion yen, up 24% quarter on quarter and 12% year on year.
