obconnect Appoints Pay.UK Former Exec Simon Lyons as Chief Strategy Officer

UK-based open banking company obconnect,has appointed Simon Lyons as its Chief Strategy Officer. In his new role, he will be responsible for expanding the firm's "blue chip" client base and helping the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) achieve its Confirmation of Payee goals in the UK.

Lyons joins obconnect from Pay.UK, an operator of the UK's national retail payment systems, where he served as Standards Transformation Lead for over a year and led a piece of work between the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), Pay.UK and the wider open banking ecosystem to address a "long-standing" legacy problem.

During his career spanning more than 20 years, Lyons had held several important roles at Open Banking, Slide, Cashfac Technologies and The Co-operative Bank plc.

Lyons, new CSO at obconnect, posted on his LinkedIn: "I lead the market piece for OBConnect.io After two years at OBIE and a year at Pay.UK I have been lucky to see all the players in the Open Banking market. For me to join what I consider one of the best is a privilege and I look forward to leading the strategy and market approach with a high class team."
