Osaka Exchange to Launch Petroleum Index Futures
The new futures contract will be based on the CME Group Petroleum Index and launch by year-end, subject to regulatory approvals.
Osaka Exchange, a subsidiary of JPX Group, has announced it is preparing to launch CME Group Petroleum Index Futures in the fourth quarter of 2020, i.e. the third quarter of JPX’s 2021 fiscal year.
The CME Group Petroleum Index comprises NYMEX WTI Crude Oil futures, NYMEX NY Harbor RBOB Gasoline futures, and NYMEX NY Harbor ULSD futures – weighted based on open interest recorded during the last quarter of each calendar year.
“We expect that the CME Group Petroleum Index Futures will enable individual investors to diversify their portfolios managed in Japanese yen and provide opportunities to hedge their position,” Osaka Exchange said in a statement.
The launch is subject to regulatory approvals.
