Payment Network PayNet Appoints Gary Yeoh as COO

PayNet, the national payments network and shared central infrastructure for Malaysia's financial markets, has hired Gary Yeoh as its new Chief Commercial Officer (COO).

The new appointment to oversee PayNet's commercial operations follows an eventful year for Yeoh, a veteran of the Malaysian payments scene who had quick stints at both payments platform Fave and buy now pay later (BNPL) operator Atome in 2022.

Prior to that, he had held leading roles at several fintech firms and programs including Boost, the e-wallet team of innovative software service provider Axiata Digital, and Bcard program, which aimed at promoting customer loyalty.

Yeoh, the new COO at PayNet, shared in his LinkedIn post: "2022 was a interesting but tough year. Appreciate the time I spent at Fave with Joel Neoh and Chen Chow Yeoh for the first half of the year then a short but interesting stint at Atome. Looking forward to the new adventure and to catching up with old friends and to meeting new friends from the industry."

Yeoh's appointment marks the first addition to PayNet's executive leadership team this year. In February 2022, the payment company had also named Encik Farhan Ahmad​ as its Chief Executive Officer.
