PayPal Gets FCA Approval to Offer Crypto Services in the UK

PayPal UK Limited, a subsidiary of the global digital payments giant PayPal, has achieved a major milestone in the crypto industry. The company has been approved as an official crypto service provider by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the regulator responsible for overseeing the financial sector in the country.
The FCA's approval grants PayPal the permission to offer a curated set of bitcoin services to the UK market, such as buying, selling, holding, and transferring cryptocurrencies. These services are already available to PayPal users in the US since last year, and the company plans to expand them to other regions in the future.
Obtaining the FCA's approval is no easy task, as the regulator imposes stringent anti-money laundering regulations on crypto service providers. Every company that wants to enter the crypto market in the UK must not only register with the FCA, but also comply with its rules and standards.
PayPal's new position as a registered crypto service provider in the United Kingdom is regarded by many as an important step forward.
