Paysafe Reports 9% Revenue Growth and Improved Financial Metrics for Q2 2024

Payments platform Paysafe has reported its financial performance for the second quarter of 2024, highlighting a 9% increase in total revenue, which reached $439.9 million. This revenue growth was primarily driven by a 7% increase in total payment volume. The company noted that excluding the adverse impact of $2.1 million from forex rate fluctuations, total revenue would have increased by 10%.
The Merchant Solutions segment led the growth with a 13% increase in revenue, attributed to double-digit growth in e-commerce and expanding sales capabilities for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The Digital Wallets segment also saw a revenue increase of 6%, with a 7% rise in constant currency, driven by growth from gambling merchants and ongoing product and consumer engagement initiatives.
Paysafe's net loss for the second quarter decreased to $1.4 million, down from $1.8 million in the same period last year. This improvement was due to higher operating income, increased revenues, and a decrease in tax expenses, although it was slightly offset by a reduction in other income. Adjusted net income rose by 5% to $36.3 million, and Adjusted EBITDA increased by 5% to $119.0 million. Adjusted EBITDA growth was 6% when excluding the unfavorable impact of foreign exchange rates, reflecting revenue growth and incremental expenses related to expansion and portfolio optimization.
Operating cash flow for the second quarter improved to $54.1 million, up from $50.2 million in the prior year period, largely due to changes in working capital. Unlevered free cash flow decreased to $70.0 million from $76.2 million, attributed to the timing of bonus payments. As of June 30, 2024, Paysafe's total cash and cash equivalents stood at $222.4 million, with total debt reduced by $50.4 million to $2.5 billion, reflecting net repayments and foreign exchange rate movements.
