PKO Bank Polski Opens Branch in Decentraland

PKO Bank Polski, the largest bank in Central and Eastern Europe, and known for having one of the most iconic landmarks in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, recently declared that it has already stepped into the metaverse by opening up a virtual branch on the Decentraland platform.

Following a switch to hybrid working patterns, the bank anticipates that its virtual branch may be utilized in the first instance for training and onboarding new staff.

The bank will explore the viability of opening a new line of communication with consumers while also looking for opportunities to verify client IDs online and provide financial services.

In support of his conviction that the virtual economy will experience growth comparable to that of PCs, the Internet, and smartphones in the past, Pawe Gruza, vice president of the management board of PKO Bank Polski, believes that the outpost will serve as a laboratory to gain experience and test relevant technologies.

"I would like PKO Bank Polski to be ready to make use of the opportunities related to it, and when metaverse has matured, to set the rhythm in the technological development of the domestic banking sector and the Polish economy," he added.
