The Israeli online contract-for-difference (CFD) platform Plus500 (LSE: PLUS) has seen its share price surge 70% over the past year, reaching a market capitalization of £2.1 billion. Trading at an all-time high on the London Stock Exchange, the company recently announced two significant developments: the release of strong financial results for 2024 and its inclusion in the STOXX Europe 600 Index, which it joined last Friday. This milestone is expected to boost trading activity in the stock, particularly among investors tracking the index or Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) associated with it.

Plus500, led by CEO David Zruia, benefits from heightened market volatility, as its platform allows users to trade CFDs on various assets, including stocks, commodities, currencies, and cryptocurrencies. The company earns revenue from commissions on the spread between purchase and sale prices. With a strong financial position, including approximately $900 million in cash reserves and no debt as of the end of 2024, Plus500 has consistently delivered value to investors, returning $2.3 billion since its IPO in 2013.

The STOXX Europe 600 Index, which Plus500 recently joined, includes 600 high-liquidity stocks from across European markets, representing a broad spectrum of large-, mid-, and small-cap companies. The index is designed to cover 90% of the market and requires listed companies to maintain an average daily trading volume of over €1 million.

CEO Zruia commented on the achievement, stating, "Plus500’s inclusion in the STOXX Europe 600 Index for the first time is a significant milestone for the Group and serves as an important recognition for the compounding value creation we have delivered in recent years. With the Group’s robust fundamentals, disciplined approach to capital allocation, and strong cash generation, we look forward to continuing to execute against our strategic roadmap objectives and delivering attractive and sustainable returns for our shareholders."

In its preliminary results for 2024, Plus500 reported $768 million in revenue and $342 million in EBITDA, with 36,000 new customers signing up in the fourth quarter alone. Investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald recently issued an "outperform" rating for the stock, setting a target price of 3,260p—12.8% above its current price. Analyst Edward James noted that the company’s $900 million in cash reserves could lead to significant returns to shareholders. "We think the market continues to underestimate the evolution of the business," James wrote, "and has difficulty understanding its technology advantage over competitors.
