Refinitiv's FX Trading Volumes Sees 3% Monthly Drop in April 2023

Refinitiv, one of the world's largest providers of financial markets data and infrastructure, unveiled the averaging daily volumes (ADV) of currency trading came in at $459 billion in April on its main FX trading services.
The FX trading volumes across Matching and FXall platforms experienced a 3% drop compared to $474 billion in the prior month and a 1.3% drop compared to $464 billion in the same period of last year. The consolidated market volatility was a significant factor that drove the increase in FX trading volumes for the month.
Refinitiv' Spot FX volumes, partly owned by Thomson Reuters, amounted to $96 billion, a decrease of 7.7% compared to $104 billion in March 2023 and a decrease of 5.9% compared to $102 billion in April 2022.
The decline in other transaction types, including forwards, swaps, options and non-deliverable forwards (NDFs), led to a decrease in monthly trading activity, averaging a daily figure of $363 billion, down 2% compared to $370 billion in the prior month.
According to the company's financial data for March 2023, Refinitiv's ADV of FX trading volume reached $474 billion, hitting the highest record over the past twelve months.
