Retail Forex Funds in US See A 0.21% Rebound in Total Volumes Across Oct 2024, According to CFTC Report

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has released its latest monthly report, which shows that the total volumes of the retail forex funds of six institutions in October 2024 has seen a 0.21% rebound M-o-M.
The report covers registered retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs) and broker-dealers operating in the US. These include CHARLES SCHWAB Futures & Forex LLC, Gain Capital Group LLC, Interactive Brokers LLC, OANDA Corporation, tastyfx* and Trading.com Markets.

In October 2024, the total forex funds held by these six registered brokers amounted to US$527,841,656, which was US$1,082,800 more than US$526,758,856 from September 2024.
Compared with US$518,418,619 in October 2023, it was up 1.82% Y-o-Y. The following chart is a all-round overview of the data of the six brokers from November 2023 to October 2024.

Registered Brokers' Performance: Three Up Three Down
Among the six brokers listed, Gain Capital (0.04%, increasing US$79,621), tastyfx (8.29%, increasing US$4,212,728) and Trading.com (3.70%, increasing US$65,275) saw monthly rise.
On the other hand, CHARLES SCHWAB (-0.82%, reducing US$536,649), Interactive Brokers (-3.85%, reducing US$1,097,780) and OANDA (-0.93%, reducing US$1,640,395) all saw M-o-M decline in October 2024.
Year-on-Year Changes of the Six Brokers

Compared with the data of the same month last year, Interactive Brokers and tastyfx both saw yearly decline. The former dropped 24.49%, reducing US$8,895,967, and the latter dropped 9.03%, reducing US$5,467,582.
Trading.com Markets continued to have the biggest yearly growth, up to 58.94%, increasing $678,052. In addition, CHARLES SCHWAB rose 4.03%, increasing $2,510,347; Gain Capital rose 5.63%, increasing $10,904,265; and OANDA rose 5.90%, increasing $9,693,922.
About CFTC's Monthly Report
As per CFTC's request, Futures commission merchants (FCMs) and retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs) must file monthly financial reports with the CFTC's Market Participants Division (MPD) within 17 business days after the end of the month. The report released this month reflects the financial information filed as of November 30, 2024, reflecting the financial situation of the relevant brokers as of October 31, 2024.
