Retail Forex Funds in US See A Slight 1.79% Up in Total Volumes Across June 2024, According to CFTC Report

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has released its latest monthly report, which shows that the total volumes of the retail forex funds of six institutions in June 2024 have a 1.79% M-o-M rise.
The report covers registered retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs) and broker-dealers operating in the US. These include CHARLES SCHWAB Futures & Forex LLC, Gain Capital Group LLC, tastyfx*, Interactive Brokers LLC, OANDA Corporation, and Trading.com Markets.

In June 2024, the total forex funds held by these six registered brokers amounted to US$557,549,710, which was US$9,829,615 more than US$547,720,095 from May 2024.
Compared with US$511,308,702 in June 2023, it was up 9.04% Y-o-Y. The following chart is a all-round overview of the data of the six brokers from July 2023 to June 2024.

Registered Brokers' Performance: Only One Down
Among the six brokers listed, Gain Capital was the only one that saw monthly decline in June, which was 0.18%, reducing its total by $370,507. The rest all went up.
In addition, CHARLES SCHWAB rose 0.74% M-o-M, increasing its total by $459,365; Interactive Brokers rose 1.10% M-o-M, increasing its total by $301,555; OANDA rose 3.24% M-o-M, increasing its total by $6,060,137; tastyfx rose 5.48% M-o-M, increasing its total by $3,342,185; and Trading.com Markets rose 1.69% M-o-M, increasing its total by $36,880.
Year-on-Year Changes of the Six Brokers

Compared with the data of the same month last year, CHARLES SCHWAB and Interactive Brokers saw yearly decline: CHARLES SCHWAB dropped 2.31%, reducing $1,487,917; Interactive Brokers dropped 16.72%, reducing $5,565,729.
Trading.com Markets continued to have the biggest yearly growth, up to 95.23%, increasing $1,083,200. Gain Capital rose 5.63%, increasing $11,063,173; OANDA rose 23.25%, increasing $36,385,354; and tastyfx rose 8%, increasing $4,762,927.
About CFTC's Monthly Report
As per CFTC's request, Futures commission merchants (FCMs) and retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs) must file monthly financial reports with the CFTC's Market Participants Division (MPD) within 17 business days after the end of the month. The report released this month reflects the financial information filed as of July 31, 2024, reflecting the financial situation of the relevant brokers as of June 30, 2024.
