Revolut Reaches $45 Billion Valuation, Setting New Benchmark for European Tech Companies

Revolut, the UK-based fintech challenger, has achieved a landmark valuation of $45 billion, making it the most valuable private technology company in Europe. This significant valuation comes after a secondary share sale that has provided liquidity to the company's employees, generating an anticipated $500 million for them.
CEO Nik Storonsky expressed his satisfaction with the company's achievements, stating, "We're delighted to provide the opportunity to our employees to realize the benefits of the company's collective success." He attributed Revolut's success to the hard work, innovation, and dedication of its employees. The firm's valuation has surged from $33 billion in 2021, reflecting its robust financial performance. In 2023, Revolut reported $2.2 billion in revenue, marking a 95% increase from the previous year, and a profit before tax of $545 million.
For 2024, Revolut is forecasting over 80% annual revenue growth and aims to expand its user base by five million, reaching a total of 50 million customers by the end of the year. Additionally, Revolut has secured a banking license in Mexico and obtained a restricted banking license in the UK, concluding a three-year regulatory process.
Founded in 2015 in London as a digital payments and money transfer app, Revolut has since diversified its offerings to include advanced wage payments, home rentals, buy now pay later (BNPL) credit, cryptocurrency trading, and more.
