Revolut Secures Crypto License in Gibraltar for New Digital Assets Entity

Revolut crypto license approval has been granted to the UK neobank, with a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Provider license issued by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) for its newly established entity, Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited (RGDAL). The company said the authorisation is intended to support its global crypto expansion strategy.
Revolut said the Gibraltar authorisation is a key step in its global crypto expansion strategy. The company noted that Gibraltar was among the first jurisdictions to establish a dedicated regulatory framework for DLT, offering a clear and stringent supervisory environment for digital asset innovation.
Revolut crypto license supports global expansion
RGDAL will use the license to support Revolut's growing international presence and crypto offerings across key expansion markets. Revolut already provides crypto services in the UK through Revolut Ltd and across the European Economic Area (EEA) through Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd (RDAEL) under MiCA.
Emil Urmanshin, GM Crypto & New Bets at Revolut, said the DLT authorisation from the GFSC reflects the company's commitment to operating at high standards of regulatory compliance. He added that Gibraltar's oversight in the digital asset space makes it an ideal jurisdiction to support Revolut's global operational framework.
Fabian Picardo KC MP, Chief Minister of Gibraltar, said Gibraltar has long led the way in establishing a rigorous regulatory environment for DLT firms. He welcomed Revolut, through RGDAL, to Gibraltar's financial ecosystem and said the company's decision to launch further crypto expansion from Gibraltar is a testament to the jurisdiction's strength, reputation, and global appeal as a hub for digital asset innovation.
Further details regarding target regions and service rollouts supported by RGDAL will be announced in due course.
