Robinhood Expands Offerings with Futures and Index Options

Robinhood has announced a major expansion of its trading services, including index options and futures trading, alongside the launch of a new desktop platform, Robinhood Legend. These offerings, introduced at Robinhood's HOOD Summit in Miami, are designed to cater to more advanced retail investors seeking diversified and sophisticated trading tools.

The platform's partnership with Cboe Global Markets will bring index options such as S&P 500, VIX, and Russell 2000 to its users. Additionally, Robinhood will soon enable futures trading on assets like Bitcoin, oil, and the S&P 500 through its mobile app.

The introduction of Robinhood Legend, a desktop trading platform with advanced charting and customizable layouts, aims to meet the needs of active traders. "With Robinhood Legend, futures, and index options, we're helping customers harness the full power of the markets," said CEO Vlad Tenev.

Robinhood's expansion comes amid growing demand for options trading, which saw a 43% revenue increase year-over-year in Q2 2024, contributing $812 million to the company's earnings.
