Robinhood goes live with the Trump Accounts App

US neobroker Robinhood Markets Inc has announced the official Trump Accounts app is now available for download. The rollout marks a significant step in establishing long-term financial security for millions of children. The first batch of email invitations for download and activation was dispatched today, with further emails to be sent in the coming weeks to eligible individuals who filed IRS Form 4547.

Children born between 2025 and 2028 who meet eligibility criteria can receive an initial $1,000 contribution from the U.S. Treasury.

Robinhood confirmed in its Q1 2026 results that it will act as the broker and sole initial trustee for Trump Accounts. Collaborating with BNY, the firm will develop and operate the standalone app, provide dedicated customer support and educational content, and custody the assets. Robinhood reported $14 million in costs related to the initiative in Q1 and anticipates investing an additional $100 million to build and support the user interface.

To begin the process, eligible parties must complete IRS Form 4547 unless already done during tax filing. The Trump Accounts app can be downloaded on iPhone or via trumpaccount.com, with an Android version expected later today. Users can register to receive notification once their account election is processed, enabling activation and the ability to start making contributions beginning July 4, 2026.

Trump Accounts are tax-advantaged investment accounts designed to help eligible U.S. children under 18 start investing early. Beyond the initial Treasury contribution for qualifying children born from 2025 to 2028, family, friends, and employers can collectively contribute up to $5,000 annually.

Contributions are automatically invested in a default qualifying low-cost index fund aimed at long-term growth. Account activity, performance, and projected growth can be tracked within the app. At age 18, the beneficiary assumes control of the account, with usage options subject to rules similar to traditional IRAs.

The app is built to offer a streamlined digital experience for activation, contributions, and management. Trump Accounts are individual retirement accounts established under federal law and administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Robinhood Securities, LLC serves as the initial trustee, holding and administering assets in a fiduciary capacity for beneficiaries.
