Robinhood to Acquire TradePMR for $300M to Strengthens Wealth Management

Robinhood has announced its acquisition of TradePMR, a custodial and portfolio management firm catering to Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs). This agreement, valued at around $300 million, marks a significant step for Robinhood as it seeks to enter the rapidly growing RIA market, currently valued at over $7 trillion.

Vlad Tenev, Robinhood's Chairman and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting TradePMR's robust network of 350 firms and extensive experience in the RIA custodial space. He emphasized the potential to create an innovative advisory platform that bridges the gap between tech-driven retail investors and fiduciary advisors who can provide tailored financial guidance.

As part of the integration, Robinhood plans to merge managed assets with self-directed investment services into a cohesive platform. This initiative is aimed at appealing to a new generation of investors, with the expectation of inheriting approximately $84 trillion in wealth as demographics shift.

In addition to enhancing its service offerings, Robinhood and TradePMR will introduce a referral program designed to connect fiduciary advisors with Robinhood's user base, facilitating easier access to professional financial counsel. This collaboration aims to bolster advisor businesses while providing Robinhood users with enhanced financial support.

The acquisition is projected to be finalized in the first half of 2025, pending necessary regulatory approvals. Robb Baldwin, the Founder and CEO of TradePMR, noted that this merger positions Robinhood to create a multi-generational platform that addresses the needs of both current and future investors. As TradePMR joins the Robinhood team, the company is set to expand its capabilities beyond self-directed trading, adapting to the evolving landscape of wealth management.
